steps performed:

  1. copying tilestream.vdi file from Lautaro
  2. creating the tilestream VM on CedeusDB (ip.18):
    • VBoxManage createvm --name tilestream --ostype Ubuntu_64 --register
    • VBoxManage modifyvm tilestream --memory 8192
    • VBoxManage modifyvm tilestream --cpus 4
    • VBoxManage modifyvm tilestream --nic1 nat
    • VBoxManage storagectl tilestream --name "SATA Controller" --add sata --controller IntelAhci
    • assign the (old) disk image a new uuid
      VBoxManage internalcommands sethduuid tilestream.vdi
    • attach the (old) disk image:
VBoxManage storageattach "tilestream" --storagectl "SATA Controller" --port 0 --device 0 --type hdd --medium tilestream.vdi
    • VBoxManage storagectl tilestream --name "IDE Controller" --add ide --controller PIIX4
    • set the nat rules (ports):
      VBoxManage modifyvm tilestream --natpf1 "ssh,tcp,,16022,,22"
      VBoxManage modifyvm tilestream --natpf1 "apache,tcp,,16080,,80"
      VBoxManage modifyvm tilestream --natpf1 "tilestream,tcp,,16088,,8888"
  3. optional - set VRDE port:
    • VBoxManage modifyvm mediawiki --vrdeport 3389 (Note: 3389 is the default port anyway)
  4. start the VM
VBoxHeadless -s tilestream --vrde on &
the VM will listen on port 3389
  5. The following step does not seem to be necessary with Ubuntu 14.04 and new VirtuaBox. But if so: connect with VRD and adjust network card settings (remember the existing VM have an old password)
    • open /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and comment out existing network adapters
    • reboot
    • check if ssh connection works
  6. restart TileStream from within the home folder with defining the tileset location:
    ./tilestream/index.js start --host 146.155.17.18 --tiles=/usr/share/tilestream &
    • to check with what PID tilestream is running use:
      ps -A | grep tilestream
