However, I am not sure if the install of Oracles Java instead of openJDK is necessary, since, as far as I recall, the OSGeo LiveDVD uses OpenJDK as well. Location of GeoServer will be /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps/ . (Note, I should have a PDF of that in my projects/planyourplace/docs/development/wyp/)
